Metrash App: Qatar Government Services on Your Phone

If you are already living in Qatar and still opening a browser every time you want to check your visa or pay a fine, there is a better way. Metrash is the official Ministry of Interior mobile app, and it handles most of what you would otherwise need a laptop and a government portal for.
One thing worth saying upfront. The old Metrash2 app was discontinued on 1 March 2026. If you still have Metrash2 on your phone, it no longer works for active services. The replacement is simply called Metrash. Download the new version from the App Store or Google Play and re-register using your Qatar ID.

  • Available on: iOS App Store and Google Play Store
  • Requires: Qatar mobile number registered in your name
  • Who it is for: Residents already living in Qatar

What You Can Do With Metrash

  • Check visa status and exact validity dates
  • View and download your digital Qatar ID card
  • Get push notifications before your QID or visa expires
  • Pay traffic fines from your phone without visiting a station
  • Check outstanding fines against your vehicle plate
  • Apply for a police clearance certificate
  • Track residence permit renewal status
  • Access your digital ID for banking and utility verifications

Setting Up the App

Download Metrash from the App Store or Google Play. Open it and tap Register. Enter your Qatar ID number and the mobile number registered with the Ministry of Interior. An OTP arrives to verify the number. Set a PIN or enable fingerprint or face ID. Once logged in, your profile loads automatically with your ID details and linked services.

Checking Your Visa Status on Metrash

Tap Visa Services from the home menu. Select Visa Inquiry or Visa Approval Tracking. Enter your visa number, passport number, or QID depending on what you are checking. Tap Search. Your current status, visa type, and validity dates appear immediately.

What Metrash Cannot Do

It requires a Qatar mobile number registered in your name. If you are overseas and waiting on your first-time visa application, you cannot use Metrash yet because you do not have a Qatar number. For checking from abroad, the MOI portal at moi.gov.qa is the right tool. Metrash is for people who are already in the country.

I have Metrash2 installed. Can I still use it?

No. Metrash2 was officially discontinued on 1 March 2026. Download the new app called Metrash from the App Store or Google Play and re-register with your Qatar ID and mobile number.

What if my mobile number is not registered with MOI?

Visit any MOI service centre or Ooredoo or Vodafone Qatar branch to register your SIM card in your name using your QID. Once registered, you can use it to activate Metrash.

Can my employer see my Metrash account?

No. Metrash is a personal app tied to your individual QID. Your employer has a separate business portal on the MOI website for their end of the process.
